Big Price, Big Performance
Let’s get straight to the point: at the time of writing, the DJI Osmo 3 retails for €548 a price many will consider steep. So is it worth it? As with most things, it depends. One thing’s for sure the OSMO 3 performs impressively.
First Impressions
All materials are nice to touch and feel really well put together. It is however the rotatable OLED touchscreen which steals the show. The image quality on the relative small screen is admirable and the rotation, menu structure and the touchscreen make the Pocket 3 super intuitive. The picture quality is really amazing, the stabilized image shot at 4K 120fps is very impressive and is complemented by the improved display.
DJI kept the modular design which means that you can expand the usability should your requirements change over time. Sadly most accessories of the previous version are not fully compatible with the latest Pocket 3.

Where the game has changed
With the new and improved integration into the DJI Mimo app the overall usability has gone up. With things like Enhanced Story Mode offering more creative templates and automated editing. Features like ActiveTrack 3.0 which uses deep learning algorithms to accurately follow subjects, and Gesture Control which allows users to initiate recording or capture photos with simple hand gestures dramatically enhance the usability during solo shoots. Overall the performance resembles that of more bulky and more expensive setups.
Getting started
Our test version came with a couple accessories like battery handles and tripod. These clamp onto each other very intuitively. An especially nice touch where the ND filter set to help with image quality without the need for post-editing. Formatting the SD Card (which wasn’t included) was easily done through the menu. Be sure to use a high-speed SD card (V30), as slower cards can limit your recording options and affect performance.

However, inserting and removing the SD card proved frustrating. While there’s no universal standard for SD card orientation, the Pocket 3’s slot feels counterintuitive, almost as if the card is being inserted backward. The slot itself is very small, we ended up using another SD card to trigger the spring mechanism to unlock and eject the card. This awkward design adds unnecessary hassle to what should be a straightforward task to carry out in the field.
Impressive Recording and Video Performance
When it comes to recording, the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 delivers impressive results. The stabilized 3-axis gimbal ensures smooth, shake-free footage even during movement, making handheld shooting effortless. Video quality is sharp and vibrant, with accurate colors and excellent detail thanks to the larger sensor and advanced image processing.
The camera performs well in a variety of lighting conditions, maintaining clarity and minimizing noise in low light. Whether shooting fast-paced action or steady cinematic scenes, the Pocket 3 adapts seamlessly. Overall, the combination of hardware and software makes it a reliable tool for capturing professional-quality video on the go.
Unlocking the Osmo Pocket 3’s value
